 Take particular care to keep the stairs and landing brightly and evenly lit. These areas are often more dimly lit than the rooms leading onto them and this can be dangerous. If possible, make sure that stair lighting can be switched on and off at the top and bottom of the stairs. Infra-red sensors can be used to make the light switch on and off automatically, but they are expensive to fit.
